Downtown Norcross |
Most who say they live in Atlanta actually don’t. They work in the city or visit to attend an event but live in a suburb. It’s often easier to claim Atlanta than to explain where your true location is in relation to this economic, cultural and culinary hub. As a kid I visited Stone Mountain and Six Flags, the usual tourist draws.
On a rare day trip without my parents, I marched through downtown as part of a parade of other youth attending a church conference. I marveled at a tall marble building we passed. Of all things, it housed a McDonald's. I found the sight cool and odd all at once. Atlanta’s modern architecture, full of structures towering into the skyline, clearly signaled that I was far from the mansions and row houses lining Savannah’s historic haunts.
I had no inkling back then that I’d relocate to this jewel. Use keyword "Atlanta" to see reviews of places I've visited in the city and surrounding areas. If you ever visit, I invite you to explore outside the city limits as well.
